2010 Ontario Indoor Cup Comment

I’ll be posting my briefing on the 1 round of the Ontario indoor Cup that we entered along with pics in a few days. However, I will say this the tournament was a roller coaster ride for me that ended up in our favor. I found something on a web site called Off The Pitch that I visit from time to time when I want to read inside youth soccer gossip.

This posting is from one of the members on Off the pitch

Day 1, and already I have to eat my words. EM C was pressed into action when Mount Hamilton dropped from the event. And surprise surprise, they went on to win group 2 courtesy of a 2-1 win over North Miss. Well done Rising Eagles! It was a good game to watch - and could have gone either way - the Eagles' keeper was the difference in my opinion. North Miss won their other games handily so move on to the next round in 2nd place.

2009 Dixie S.C Christmas Tournament Briefing

Hey, what an experience very exciting Dixie S.C. tournament. Playing 11v11 on a Fifa regulation size field for 35 minutes games presented its challenges.

Our first game `@ 8:00 Vs Oak Ridge Nights went well we had most of the scoring opportunities but failed to put the ball in the back of the net ending with a 0-0 tie.

The second game Vs Waterloo’s “A” team with an 11th place Tarra Ranking was our only let down game of the day. The 2-0 loss did not justify the one sided thrashing (technical display) we witnessed and happened to be a part of.

Our third game was Vs Vaughan we showed up, provided much better energy and through out the game we started to get stronger dominating the game with a final 3-0 victory allowing us to move into the semi-finals.

One game away from the finals was a rematch against Waterloo “A” team. The biggest challenge for us when we played them the first time was our mental approach to the game -nothing to do with our on the field performance even through they have the best technical discipline of all the teams in the tournament “They are my pick to win it all”.

The mood in the changing room before the game was O’NO…flat and fearful. Before we had even played the game the girls had already lost mentally. A 10 minute emotional speech from me explaining to them - if they go on the field with all their stories that the other team is fast, stronger and technically better then that is what will show up on the field and proving you right leading to an embarrassing loss. Or we could go out on the field with no stories and battle for 50/50 balls. Well we ended up losing 1-0 and in my estimation this was the best game we played all day – we left it all on the field to a more experience team - Nice tournament showing 97 Rising Eagles.

2009 Dixie SC Christmas Tournament

We had our first practice at the club house (EMSC) since Christmas in preparation for an 11v11 tournament at Hershey Sports Zone that is being hosted by Dixie Soccer Club.

The girls are very excited about playing in the tournament but not too happy about being at the field for 7:10am for our first game… actually I’m not to happy about it either but that’s the way schedules go.

Perfect, The Healing Of a Smile

It’s about time…

I’ve being delaying the launch of this blog for months – I shouldn’t say delaying I just could not find the time. I think this holiday season would make for a perfect time to launch Erin Mills 97 Rising Eagles blog.

I’m going to say the first part of our fundraising event “Christmas Carolling” for the KeepSmiling Alliance is a perfect team introduction to the blog. In three days the 97 Rising Eagles were able to raise $500.00 from their Christmas caroling efforts – reaching half way to their targeted $1,000.00 goal.

The whole fund raising event “Healing of a Smile” so far has produce life long memories that’s creating inspiration throughout

Mississauga communities.

Chugging Along

Some times I call my daughter ” Random” a nick name she doesn’t like me saying so, I don’t say it to often or in public...LOL. I totally know why she has random tendencies because I have them too and she must get it from me. One upside of having random tendencies is the unconscious thought of starting something new, fun and inspirational.

This blog was a random thought of action that I had last year but, I never took into consideration or the other time restraints of responsibilities placed on my table. So, for one year “Erin Mills 97 Rising Eagles” Blog never lived up to its full potential of providing a dialog outlet for our team community.

Lots of exciting and challenging things have happened throughout the 2008/09 soccer season that Nelia our “many hat wearing assistant coach” has agreed to help us bring our blog up to date.

The blog will work in conjunction with our team Web Site, and iNews Letter (new random thought). We will be looking for additional administrators and contributors to these communication avenues.

If you have any comments or would like to assist us with anyone of these communication avenues (Web site, Blog or iNEWS Letter) as we head into this exciting upcoming 2009/10 season just let us know.
